Eden Islet is a small volcanic tuff cone rising from the clear waters off the northwest coast of Santa Cruz Island. Though visitors cannot set foot on the rocks, the islet’s dramatic shapes and steep cliffs offer striking views as boats circle its perimeter. Guides often point out coastal mangroves and lava formations that hint at the volcanic forces that shaped this part of the archipelago.

From a boat around Eden Islet, travelers can spot seabirds perched on rocky ledges and diving into the ocean below. Blue‑footed boobies plunge sharply for fish, while brown pelicans and Nazca boobies glide overhead. Marine iguanas sometimes sun themselves on the darker volcanic rocks, offering memorable wildlife highlights right from the boat.

Under the water’s surface, the shallow, clear sea around Eden Islet teems with life. Green sea turtles often swim through the mangrove fringes, rays glide over sandy patches, and reef sharks patrol near coral outcrops. Snorkeling here brings you close to brightly colored fish, like parrotfish and surgeonfish, and curious rays that move smoothly through the water.

Because there’s no landing site, trips to Eden Islet are typically part of guided small‑boat cruises or day tours from Santa Cruz. Visitors often combine this stop with Zodiac rides, kayaking, or other nearby visitor sites along the Galápagos coast. Whether experienced from a panga or while snorkeling off the boat, the vibrant life around Eden Islet makes it a memorable portion of any Galápagos itinerary.
